Eclectic Reading Schedule for 2010-2011

As autumn approaches and our fancy turns to the upcoming James Joyce Society of Sarasota Season, it seems timely post to our Irish Literature group reading schedule.

The first meeting occurs on the fourth Wednesday of October to allow for the greatest return of snow birds. The others are on the second Wednesday of the month to avoid coming too close to winter holidays. Location will be at North Library(MlkBlvd@1/3 mi east of Rte 301).

The selections have been drawn from a list of ones agreed upon last year by the group i.e. another by Kate O’Brien, Roddy Doyle’s Paddy Clarke HAHAHA , a carryover, McPherson plays, and one suggestion, Brooklyn. I have purposely not planned beyond January to allow the group to settle on others during the fall.

Please note that Talk of Angels was earlier published as Mar y Lavelle. Either edition works though Talk of Angels has chapter demarcations which may facilitate discussion, has an intro by Mary Gordon and on Amazon was quite cheap.
All comments and questions welcomed.
I am very much looking forward to seeing you,

Betty.
